Religious Education Update

Ash Wednesday begins our Lenten season. Lent is a season of reflection and preparation, before we celebrate Easter. It is also an opportunity to reach out to those in need. The children have Project Compassion boxes in their classes and will be collecting donations of small change throughout Lent. This is just one way we can show compassion and help those in need. The money collected will be donated to Caritas, the international aid and development organisation of the Catholic Church.

Opening mass

Last week we celebrated our opening school Masses. The Year 1&2 students lead the Mass on Wednesday and the Years 3-6 students lead the Mass on Thursday. It was lovely to see the students and parents back in the church. Our theme for both of the opening Masses was Gratitude and the students reflected upon how they can have an ‘Attitude of Gratitude’, show their kind heart and work hard on their learning.

Sacraments this year

Last year, due to restrictions the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist were postponed. All Year 4 students who did not make their First Reconciliation will have the opportunity to complete the Sacrament this year alongside the Year 3 students.

Due to numbers we have decided to hold two First Eucharist masses, one for the Year 5 students who did not receive the Sacrament last year and one for the Year 4 students. Enrolment forms for Reconciliation and Eucharist will be sent home before the end of Term 1.

Any parents who would like their child to receive the Sacrament of Baptism are welcome to contact Father John Paul at the parish office.
