Dear Families,

Much has been said, and will be said about 2020, and the impact that Covid has had on schools. But after a smooth transition back into school earlier this term, students quickly went back into their school routines.  Now, nearly all of it is behind us, with the end of the school year in sight and an end to more restrictions just on the horizon!  We hope to update you soon on any further changes to lingering restrictions.

2021 grades are taking shape:As we near the end of the year, so much of the focus is on 2021. As part of this, the transition process for 2021 is well-underway.  Staff have been meeting late to discuss possible grades for next year.  I can say that I have heard lengthy conversations in every team level, about the needs of individual students, as they consider how the grades are assembled. Thank you to those families that provided valuable input. At the time that this newsletter is released, students will have had their second trial of a new grade for next year.  Over the weeks ahead, staff will finalise these grades, and families will be notified in Week 10, of their new teacher for 2021.  On Wednesday 16th of December, there will be a transition day where the 2021 grades will work together up until lunchtime.

Tent City:

Today is the last day of an amazing week for our Year 5 and 6 students, with end of Camp Week.  The students and teachers alike have turned Covid restrictions into a positive, with tents set up on the oval and activities running all week, to replicate the camp experience as much as possible.  Well done to all involved, including teachers involved, who planned and worked tirelessly to ensure that students this year still had a camp experience to remember.

New arrivals are coming!

Throughout this week, most of the 2021 Foundation students have come to visit.  Most of next year’s group have come to meet the Foundation teachers, tour the yard, read a book and visit Sprout.   Thank you to the Foundation team for making all of this happen.  Of course, thank you to the parents of our new arrivals, for choosing us.

Staying in touch:

Thank you to the students of NF, who have written some procedural texts, reminding us of one way some of us can stay in touch with the classroom.  These students have created instructions for accessing class work on either Twitter or SeeSaw.  While we are now back on site, these platforms may be used to show some of the work that is happening at school.  For Twitter, grades have a handle, based off the teachers’ names.  For example, NiciFausten@BNWPS_Nici.  If your student’s grade is continuing to use this channel, you can replace this with your teacher’s name.
