Prep

What a busy term we have had! Term 4 is flying by and we can't believe that our Preps are nearly heading off into Year 1!

Throughout the term we have been reading different fairytales and exploring the different characters in these texts. The preps have continued to consolidate their letter sound knowledge by reading daily short decodable texts called Pocket Rockets.

In Maths we have explored the different ways we can measure things including length, weight and capacity.

The Preps enjoyed our Book Week dress up day and they all looked amazing dressed up as their favourite book character. Students participated in a Prep Parade showcasing their costume. Congratulations to Mokitha, Sanuk and Saksham would won our most creative costumes.

The teachers throughly enjoyed seeing all of their little personalities shine during this day.

A big thank you to our families for all of your support over a very challenging 2020. We wish you all a happy and safe Christmas. May you all be blessed with the magic this time of the year brings.

Curious Creatures, Wild Minds was the theme for our book week dress up day and no one disappointed.  Congratulations to Lucas and Lilee on their brilliant costumes with Lincoln a fantastic 3rd place taking our awards for the day.

Throughout the week we read each book week title and completed a range  of art activities that saw each teacher teach each class - the children certainly enjoyed a different week after a very different year. The dance off after our parade was a highlight.

Thanks to the families that helped prepare each of our students.

We look forward to sharing our last week together in Year Three/Four - we already had time yesterday seeing what 2021 looks like with our new learning groups.

Thanks again to all the families who have been with us on the year no one expected but we certainly persevered and the children has shown their resilience and adaptability.

Well done to our winners

Book Week News - Curious Creatures Wild Minds

Book Week 2020 has certainly been one of the highlights of this year so far. The children were highly engaged in various activities that focused specifically on books, particularly the shortlisted books for the Book Council Awards.

Launching our celebrations with the BookWeek Costume Parade was an enormous ‘WOW’ factor and everyone joined in the spirit of the occasion with great gusto. A huge thank you. Thanks to all the parents and families for assisting the children with the creation of their costumes. They looked fantastic and it adds to, and creates, such joy and enthusiasm to their learning.

It's hard to believe that the 2020 school year is nearly over & we will be farewelling our Year 6 students as they take the next step on their learning journey.

We are sure you agree with us when we say 2020 has been a year we will never forget & hope we never see a repeat of again.  Our Senior school students have been amazing on this roller coaster journey we call 2020 and have built many life skills such as perseverance and resilience that will hold them in good stead for the future.

It was fantastic to be together again as a Senior school & reconnect with the students and them with their friendship groups.

We are extremely happy and proud to announce that 7 of our Year 6 students were selected for the Telescope Program at MacKillop College.

Congratulations to:

Aaron, Nakshathra, Joshua J, Sachiv, Joshua M, Mia & Erina

We have every confidence you will continue to thrive and do yourselves, your parents and OLSC proud.

Last week we celebrated Book Week as a school.  It was great to see so many students & staff get into the spirit & dress up to celebrate books and in particular our Australian authors.  Two prizes were awarded in the Senior school for the most creative costumes.

Well done to Summer & Luka our two prize winners, we hope you enjoy reading the book you won.

We hope you enjoy the photos.

The LC4 team would like to thank all of families for the support & kind words we have received this year.  It was a privilege to work in partnership with you all through the ups & downs of the 2020 school year.

We wish you all a very happy, holy and safe Christmas shared with family & friends.

Cheers

Sandy, Lisa, Hayley, Kristina, Scott, Krystin, Fan, Michelle, Helen, Lisa & Mariella
