Big Breakfast

I hope you have all marked the date of our Big Brekky in your diaries. We plan to host our Big Brekky (COVID style)   next Friday 19th February commencing at 8:00 am. All families are welcome to join us for breakfast in the central courtyard and feast upon a range of pastries, fruit, sausages, juice and tea and coffee (a Coffee Van will be on-site).

It will be a time to catch-up, meet new people and just enjoy the new year.  Obviously, we will need to adhere to social distancing norms and food will be served in line with our COVIDSafe plan.

We hope to see you all there!

Student Leadership

This Friday all Year 5/6 students who have applied for a position on one of the Student Leadership teams will have the opportunity to present themselves along with what they have to offer through our interview process. Children will be notified the same day and the successful candidates will be presented to our school community at next Monday's  Assembly.

We wish them all the very best!

Car Park

Since we have a number of new families commencing at Corpus Christi School this year I thought it timely to revisit school ‘drop off’ and ‘pick-up’ procedures. Families can use either end of the school to drop off and collect their children.  However it is of utmost importance that all families adhere to the parking restrictions within the school car park and surrounding streets.

In the front car park, parking IS ONLY PERMITTED in designated parking bays and ‘Keep Clear’ areas and No Standing areas must be kept clear. There is NO ‘drop-off’ zone. Cars must be parked in the designated bays.

If the car park is full it will be necessary for people to park outside the school grounds and walk in to collect their child. Children are not permitted to walk unattended through the car park. And please remember to enter and exit the driveway from the service road slowly, giving way to all pedestrian traffic.

If dropping off or collecting your children from the Ormond Road entrance of the school, basic road laws and common sense prevail.

Please do not double park, perform 3-point turns in the street, or allow your children to enter/exit cars unless you have pulled up at the kerb. Children are not permitted to cross Ormond Road by themselves. Parents are to collect their children from the gate.

The No Stopping signs outside our gate must be observed at all times!

These rules are put into place to ensure the safety of our children!  You may also like to consider arriving for pick-up just after 3:30 pm so as to miss the ‘peak hour’ traffic.

REMINDER

No children (including toddlers) are to play on the Adventure Playground before or after school.

Hair

A reminder that as per our uniform policy,

long hair is to be tied back (and away from the face) at all times with blue, white or neutral hair ties/clips. All students are to wear their own natural hair colour. This applies to both boys and girls.

School Closure Day

On Friday 26th February there will be a Professional Development Day for the staff. There will be NO SCHOOL for students on that day.

Sharing of Food

It is important to remind all children and families that at no time should children be sharing food with other children during eating times. We have a number of children with food allergies so, for the safety of all, we ask all families to reiterate the importance, with their children, of not sharing food with others.

Throughout the year, children may bring lolly bags to school to share with their classmates to celebrate their birthday; however we ask that these be distributed by the class teacher at home time and are only eaten with the permission of parents. Please do not bring cakes to school.

Absentees

Please note that it is a requirement that parents notify the school (preferably in writing) of all instances when their child may be absent for all or part of a day. This can be easily done via our school app. Alternatively you can contact the school office by phone to report an absence. Please notify us of absences prior to 9:30 am

School App

A reminder to everyone to download our school app!

Communications and updates are regularly sent via the app so it's definitely a 'must-have'.

Simply visit  Google Play or the App Store and search for our school name.

Camps, Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF)

A reminder that families who hold a valid Health Care Card for the 2021 year are able to receive a government rebate through the Camp, Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF) which is currently set at $125 per primary aged child.

Applications for the CSEF can be collected from the school office. We encourage families to submit these to the school office by the end of March.

Have a wonderful week

God bless

Book Club Issue 1

Book club issue 1 has been sent home this week. For those parents new to the school, Book Club is a fantastic way to buy books for your children and support the school at the same time. 20% of the purchase price is donated back to the school.

Book club catalogues are sent out once a term. Books are ordered online only (we do not accept cash payments) through the Scholastic Book Club Loop. Books are then delivered without postage fees to the school and distributed to the children.

Please order by 19th February. I will be closing off school deliveries at 5pm on the 19th February. Any orders after this time will attract a home delivery fee.

For more information go to the parent's guide at: scholastic.com.au/parents.

Orders can be made at bookclubs.scholastic.com.au

If you are having difficulties with the system, feel free to contact me through Debbie in the office.

Cheers,
