Red Group Report
Red Group have had a very exciting and busy start to Term Two. One of our highlights has been going on our first kinder excursion to the Miners Rest Fire Station. The children enjoyed learning about fire safety with the firefighters showing us their special equipment and clothing. We learnt about ‘staying down low and go, go, go’, waking our family and ringing 000. It was wonderful to see children confidently sharing their understandings about fire safety and answering questions. Children were then divided into two groups having the opportunity to use a fire hose, climb aboard the fire truck and use a heat sensor.
Last Tuesday Yvonne and her special helper Nygrie came to kinder to teach Red Group about dog safety. We learnt about times we shouldn’t pat dogs including; when they are tied up, sleeping, eating and have puppies. At the end of the session, Red Group had the opportunity to safely pat Nygrie.
On Thursday Red group also enjoyed participating in a numeracy based transition session in the Foundation classroom, focusing on numbers to eight by creating an octopus.
