Other special celebrations
Another special day for us this term was our Asian Cultural Day celebration. We started the day with a special 'opening ceremony' assembly where each class performed for us and we had a dress up parade.
We rotated around 3 different sessions for the day, including the Chinese Lion Dance, Indian Bollywood Dancing and Japanese Taiko Drumming. Our students enjoyed having a go of some poses and holding the heavy lion costume, learning a bollywood party dance and creating their own rhythm on the taiko drums.
Our junior school students enjoyed a music incursion this term, organised by Mrs Shepherd. We were treated to music and a comedy show from Mongo and Bongo, the Bongo Brothers! The Bongo Brothers went on a quest to find the ultimate bongo rhythm and shared their findings with us, with tunes from Africa to Australia! Meagan and Christine even joined Mongo and Bongo for a special dance at the end.
And let's not forget Book Week to cap of a fantastic term in 1/2. Our theme this year was 'reading is my superpower' and we were amazed to see how many students dressed up. Our teachers, who are big kids at heart, loved dressing up on the day too.
Stay tuned for photos from our Year 1 and 2 camps in the coming weeks!
See you all in Term 4 for another jam packed term, full of excitement. Can you believe the year is almost over? We can't!
