Our Term

Our Term

Term 3 has been another big term for us in Year One and Two! We have enjoyed a few whole school celebrations including Science Week, Book Week and Asian Cultural Day - we even got to dress up for some of them! We've done so many science experiments this term that we could steal Mr Spinks' job as Science Coordinator... or perhaps we should leave it to the expert. Along with our chemical reactions in science, we certainly made a splash during swimming week this term too. We even managed to get our teachers wet as they watched us from the side of the pool!

We have enjoyed learning about our environment in our weekly Inquiry sessions, identifying if things around us are man-made or natural. We have continued to learn new rules in our daily phonics practise and have put our spelling tools to good use when writing poetry and procedure texts. Our skills as mathematicians have continued to grow as we have explored many concepts in hands on ways.

This term saw the introduction of our positive behaviour tokens, with each class aiming to fill up a jar each week to get us closer to our whole school reward. Every day, our teachers look for someone to be rewarded with a Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible or Be a Learner token to add to our classroom jars and we get so excited watching it fill up closer to the line. There has been a lot of buzz in the classrooms, out in the yard and in specialist lessons as the Year Ones and Twos seek to find new ways to earn a token.

Term 3 also saw the introduction of a new school values poster - RESPECT! Our new posters are proudly displayed in our classrooms and our Year One and Two students have been thinking carefully about how we can show respect to others.

We hope you enjoy browsing through our Term 3 newsletter and look forward to sharing more news with you in Term 4!
