Dean's Corner

From Anel
Classroom and school culture has been a theme on my mind in a number of areas: induction, classroom observations, various conversations and principal interviews. A key piece to having a culture of respect in an environment such as a classroom or school is building relationships. Students are more willing to perform, follow directions and participate when they feel their teacher cares from them and is interested in them as a person. I challenge you to learn something new about your students these next few week. What do they like to do on their free time? How many siblings to they have? Our Culture and Climate panel had an interesting conversation (after our debrief, of course) where we were talking about how many siblings we had and our family dynamics. It was a fun and light -hearted conversation that helped me build on the trust and relationships with my teammates.
