SAFE BEDROOMS – DANIEL MORCOMBE FOUNDATION RESOURCES

With our young people spending so much of their time online at the moment, it is important that parents and carers are aware of the fact that they potentially will be communicating with people they do not know, and exposing themselves to the danger of being groomed online.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation work to provide protection, support and education around all aspects of child safety. They have produced a fantastic suite of resources around the topic of online grooming, particularly focused on providing education and resources for parents. Through a series of video resources, parents and carers can learn about the warning signs of online grooming, how to protect their children and what to do if they are concerned.

By becoming informed parents and carers can keep their children safe online.

‘Safe Bedrooms’ has both short videos and fact sheet resources around the following topics:

  • UNDERSTANDING online grooming
  • RED FLAGS – signs to look out for
  • RECOGNISING online grooming
  • REACTING to online grooming
  • REPORTING online grooming
  • Creating Family Technology Agreements

I strongly encourage you to have a look through these resources – even if you are not currently concerned. Having the knowledge of what to look out for, and having conversations with your child around prevention, gives much greater protection against such potential dangers.
