Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Guardians, and friends of Nazareth
Over the past couple of weeks, it has become evident that students, parents and staff members feel fragile and exhausted with the continued lockdown and restrictions. There seems to be glimpses of hope with the road map for the plan out of lockdown.
In the meantime, I urge you to remain positive and think of those worse off in life. Continue to keep all those affected by the current situation in Afghanistan in your thoughts and pray for them.
Over the past couple of weeks, I have interviewed over 50 students so far for the 2022 Scholarships. It’s been a very uplifting experience. All the students are worthy recipients, however, the number on offer is less than the number applied for so we have a difficult task ahead of us in deciding the recipients.
When asked an array of questions, it was evident that engagement is a key criterion for each student. They love being involved, strive for excellence and are appreciative of their opportunities. One key question asked is, who is your role model? What inspires you? The majority speak of their families, in particular their mums and dads and how inspiring they are.
Something you should all be proud of – Remote Learning. Students have reported that despite being tired of screen time, the format for online lessons is improving. Our previous review made suggestions and recommendations from students that we have implemented, making it better this time around.
The College is continuing to upgrade its facilities. Whilst we have had fewer students onsite due to the restrictions, the Chisholm area and classrooms have new carpet laid. A new computer lab is being established, and the old Science rooms are being cleared and temporarily re-established elsewhere in preparation for building the new Science wing. It is exciting to develop these areas so that our students and families will enjoy the fantastic facilities on offer.
Finally, if any families are in need of classroom-style chairs or small fold-down tables, we are giving some away. If you would like any of these items, please contact Mr Bruno Cirillo – Facilities and Maintenance Manager at the College. Once restrictions are eased, we will be able to organise pick up of items that have been put aside for families.
May the Lord keep you safe and bless you in these trying times
Mr Sam Cosentino
Principal
