A parents' guide to Snapchat

Snapchat is a social media messaging app for people aged 13 years and older, however it has a huge following of users, including children, some as young as eight years of age.

As parents of young people, it's very important that we educate ourselves on all areas of our children's lives, both offline and online. We can never know 'too much' when it comes to social media in a rapidly changing space.

The Parents' Guide to Snapchat has been designed to give parents and carers the tools to empower themselves—and their children—when using the app.

The guide, which has been endorsed by the eSafety Commissioner, includes helpful resources including:

  • Snapchat's features
  • Top five questions parents have about Snapchat
  • Snapchat tips for you and your kids
  • Safety concerns

View the Parents' Guide to Snapchat online via this link.

If you have any concerns about your child's internet use, please contact one of our Counsellors or the e-Safety Commissioner for support.
