Why do you love working at SCHS?

Mostly my colleagues. I'm not great at showing the appreciation, but I really love the people I work with. Though to be fair, I'd probably love anywhere that paid me to talk about Physics all day.

As a leader of SCHS, what are your key focuses?

My current leadership role is as coordinator of the International Baccalaureate program. This is my second year in this position and has involved working with all members of the school community and the IBO to get the school authorisation so that we can run the IB at SCHS. This has involved working with teaching staff to develop courses and working with leadership and staff to develop school policies and resources. In addition to this role I work collaboratively with the Curriculum, Assessment and Pedagogy leadership team to maintain, improve and support the teaching and learning that takes place at SCHS.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, whether it is going out for dinner, going to the movies or simply a games night. I also really enjoy watching sports, I am a bit of a football tragic (AFL and NRL) as well as staying up late for the F1 action. In my down time I like to read a good book or binge watching some TV.

Why do you love working at SCHS?

Simply...the people. I love getting to know the students and building relationships with them. I have been fortunate enough to teach several students across the years of 9 to 12 and see them grow into amazing young adults. It is wonderful to see how the students really love the school and try everything to make it better, year after year. I also really enjoy working with my colleagues not only because of their commitment to teaching but also their willingness to have a laugh and support each other when things get a bit tough.

Aerial acrobatics, especially silks, is something I spend quite a bit of money and time on. I also love painting and reading fantasy novels.

The students, always the students. They could be going through SO MUCH in their own lives but still turn up for class with so much drive and personality. Teaching would mean nothing without them.

The school is a fun place to be where everyone works together. And to top it off... the staff and students are great!
