PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Carly Avery

Hi All,

So lovely to have had some sun recently! Following our recent lockdown, I have had conversations with a number of parents in regards to wellbeing concerns, including returning to school. As a staff we discussed some options in this space should another lockdown occur. More information will come from the classroom teachers if this happens (fingers crossed!). I urge you to reach out if you have any wellbeing concerns for your child/ren.

Thanks to those parents who have responded to the Remote Learning survey. A reminder that this is open until next Monday, 23rd August.

Sacrament of Confirmation and Eucharist Parent Information Evening

Please check your emails for a letter from Markeeta Green. This will take place in an online format next Wednesday evening, 25th August at 6:00pm.

2022 Enrolments

A reminder to send in your enrolment forms if you have a child starting with us in Foundation next year.

Teaching and Learning Focus

This week our classroom teachers have met with Catherine Bonham (Educational Consultant, Catholic Education Sandhurst) to reflect on their teaching of Guided Reading. Staff were able to reflect on high levels of student engagement in this practice and deep analysis of the text.

At our staff meeting last night Markeeta Green presented research on Synthetic Phonics following our learning through the SOLAR course (The Science of Language and Reading). Following a staff discussion of phonics and a review of several programs, we will finalise the best approach for our students and staff PD will occur later this year or early next year, depending on availability.

Parent Engagement

At this stage, we have flagged Friday 17th September as our dress-up day for Book Week, in the hope that parents are also able to attend. This may be pushed to early-term four depending on restriction updates. Watch this space!

Photo’s

School Photos are scheduled for Monday 30th August. At this stage, under current restriction guidelines, they are not able to take place. We will update you should these guidelines change.
