Deputy Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

The other day, I shared my good news story, just in case you missed it, here it is.

As you are aware, 2 weeks ago I lost my car keys on my way into work.

I searched high and low, posted on line, made posters, and rummaged through lost and found boxes at local police stations. (I think I used a bottle of hand sanitiser!)

Then a few leads, including a call to school by a member of the community, unfortunately they were the keys to a Toyota, not mine  :(

My only glimmer of hope was knowing that they were last spotted by two members of the community, hanging from the Kamesburgh Garden fence.  Unfortunately, when I searched the area, they were nowhere to be seen.  My next step was to head over to Kamesburgh Gardens with a metal detector, in the event they were hiding in all the shrubs.  Lockdown 6.0 commenced and my search stopped!

Yesterday, as I was in an online meeting, Ange came to my door holding my keys, a sign I had put up on North Rd and a business card. I was surprised, happy and in disbelief all within seconds.  She told me that she had received a call from a lovely man who is a dentist etc...  To be honest, I had just about given up hope!

Ange told me that a member of the community, whilst walking his dog, spotted one of my posters on North Rd and recognised the set of keys.  The keys had been placed into his mailbox and he had just recently discovered them.

Now for the surprise twist...

I looked down at the business card which Ange gave me and recognised a familiar name.  I then remembered that Ange had mentioned that he is a dentist.  Indeed he is,  wait for it... growing up he was my family dentist!

A big thank you to Dr Harry Marget from the East Bentleigh Dental Group for returning my keys.

Thank you also, to each and every one of you for showing your support by enquiring, searching, posting online and so on.

Our prayers to St Anthony worked.  Thankyou.

Kind regards,

Carmelina Corio

(Deputy Principal)

COVID-19 Safety at School

At St James we have put a number of strategies in place to reduce the risk of transmission.  No one strategy is 100% effective.

Here are just some of the ways we are doing to keep our Students, School community and Staff safe and well.

In light of current restrictions and inline with our School COVID Safety we ask that you respect and follow the following guidelines.

Service Victoria QR Code and Face Masks

We kindly ask that all parents, carers and contractors and volunteers check-in using the Service Vic QR code displayed and wear a mask when entering the school building.

Thank you.

Self Isolating during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Can we kindly ask that if you or your family are required to self isolate during these times, that you inform the school via info@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au so that we can offer any assistance possible.

Thank you!

 Social Distancing

Thank you to all parents and carers who are helping the community to stay safe and healthy by keeping 1.5m apart at drop off and pick up times.

Although physical distancing will not apply to students in class, it does still apply to staff and parents. Therefore we ask that you respect our requests to minimise contact and continue with social distancing during drop off and pick ups, adults will also need to adhere to wearing masks when in public places including drop off and pick up when it is not possible to socially distance.
