Visual Arts

Have a look at the beautiful artworks that we are preparing for our parent fundraiser.

Four grades were able to complete artwork just before the current Lockdown.

Grade 5 and 6 students contributed to a piece by creating a Zentangle each. Grade 6 students made small squares and Grade 5 produced circle versions.  Grade 1 made an artwork of circle/hearts in neon colours using paint slicks.

Grade 3/4 CJ each drew penguins which were cut out and placed together to make a rather lovely artwork.  We will get straight to work on producing a further 4 works when Lockdown lifts.

I’ve really enjoyed seeing the art that students have produced during Lockdown 6. Being creative is beneficial for our mental health and I urge parents to encourage their children in this area. There are so many opportunities and options to create, so please encourage your children to either do some art that they enjoy, or try something new.   Whether it’s drawing each day using a website like Arthub for Kids or learning a skill like sewing or weaving, Lockdown can be a time to create, which can be very satisfying.

Best wishes,

Update to the 2021 Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition Celebration

To all who have entered the 2021 Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition.

We appreciate your understanding about the celebration evening date change. Bayside Youth Services has made the difficult decision to move the celebration event online, given the uncertain nature of hosting large groups of attendees.

We will be holding an online event on Friday 27 August where we will be celebrating each entrant and announcing the winners of the 2021 Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition. Further details for this event will be released soon.

We will be mailing each entrant to the exhibition a small gift including their certificates and catalogues for entering the exhibition. If you have not already done so, please respond to this email with your postal address and any dietary requirements by Friday 20 August COB.

There is still time to encourage your friends and family to vote on Facebook for your entry for the Community Choice Award. One $50 voucher for the artist and a $30 Menu Log  voucher for the voters are up for grabs, see our Facebook album for more details: https://www.facebook.com/baysideyouthservices

To the Bayside Schools who have entered, if you would like to arrange a time for Bayside Youth Services to present certificates or to arrange a small celebration of your school’s artists, please contact me and we can discuss the logistics.

On behalf of Bayside Youth Services I want to say an enormous thank you to everyone who has entered, supported the artists or celebrated the artwork. Please let me know if you have any questions at any stage.

Warmest regards,
