Sports Co-ordinator News

I hope everyone is travelling well in lockdown. With all these restrictions and lockdowns, we are waiting for a number of events to have their dates finalised. As you can appreciate, all dates for events that have been postponed are yet to be finalised.  As we get updates and new dates, I will continue to post announcements via Compass and Google Classroom.

If postponed events are cancelled, parents will be given a refund to their fee accounts.

Please take care during lockdown and I look forward to all of our sport events returning hopefully soon.

Last week we had some sporting action take place. Both Bill Turner boys and girls played their Riverina final and MCC participated in the Diocesan Basketball gala day.

Diocesan Basketball

Congratulations to MCC Basketball teams that travelled to Albury to compete last Thursday. It was a fantastic day and all of our teams were very competitive and had outstanding overall results.

Thank you to Mr Dal Nevo, Mr Cavanagh, Lexi Salvestro and Harry Laurent for coaching our teams.

Bill Turner Boys Soccer

Tumut was our final game in the Riverina. If we won, we would be champions against all the schools around us and be the 2021 champions of the Riverina. We won 9-0. This was a fantastic win at home in front of the massive crowd on the eastern side on the field. Our forwards after missing some gilt-edged chances in the first half turned the screws through the second with a blast of 6 goals in 10 minutes to seize control of the fixture. We had some stellar goals from outside the box from Luca Valensisi, Chipped goals by our Captain Jake Calabria, goals after beating multiple defenders by Pearson Kasawaya and poacher's goals from Dane O'Connor ensured victory. Our first clean sheet of the season helps keep the coach happy too! Well done again and we look forward to our opposition against Orange's James Sheehan College.

Bill Turner Girls Soccer

The girl's Bill Turner Soccer team have had a wonderful season this year making it all the way to the finals. With their first game being at home, they played against St Francis Leeton. Team captain Bethany Piva broke their defensive line bringing the teams first win scoring 8 goals with the final score being 8-0. In the next round, the girls had their first away trip of the season playing Finley. They worked really well as a team, supporting each other and had fun with Bethany scoring 7 goals, Arnika Jasnos scoring 6 goals. Ella Savage and Serena O'Connor also scored a goal each bringing home a 15-0 victory. On the 12th of August, the girls went off to Alubry to play the Riverina finals. This was a tough game of soccer as the girls quickly learned with Alubry scoring their first goal within the first five minutes. Bethany Piva, Zoe Sergi, and Isabella Sartor did a good job pressuring their goalie but unfortunately, the girls lost 3-0. Albury gave us a good game and the girls worked hard all game.
