Upper Primary Learning
Term 3
Term 3 has been busy in Upper Primary. Even though we have spent most of it learning from home, we have still had a lot of fun!
When onsite, students were excited to learn about the Olympics and watched some of the highlights. A couple of classes decided to create their own ‘Potato Olympic Games’ and students were involved in engaging activities that they undertook with their potato athlete. Everyone had so much fun competing in the different events.
Upper Primary students have been excited to learn about a new Integrated Unit focusing on the farm. Each week we have studied a different animal in hands-on and engaging language experiences. For two weeks we were lucky to watch nine chicks hatch out of their eggs. Although this happened during remote and flexible learning, a live feed was set up so that we could all watch the chickens and stay involved.
Another highlight this term was ‘Book Week’! Unfortunately we weren’t able to celebrate it like we usually would at school, but that didn’t stop our teachers and students from dressing up. A section assembly was held, where each class had the opportunity to showcase their outfit and we also played some fun games. Some wonderful character dress ups included Where’s Wally, Harry Potter, the Joker, Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, the Wiggles, Iron Man, Patty Mills and the Day the Crayons Quit.
We are all very proud of the efforts that our students have put in this term. It has been a challenging term, but the resilience and flexibility of our students, teachers and families has been awesome to see. We are definitely looking forward to returning onsite in Term 4.
