Marvellous Measurement

Congratulations to all Years One and Two students for the way they have settled back into the routines of remote learning, and a huge thank you to families for supporting your children during this challenging time. We are aiming to continue along the same path of learning we would have followed had we been on-site, and so our Maths focus has now shifted to measurement topics. Over the next few weeks we will be exploring mass, area and capacity.

This week, the children are learning to compare objects using the language "lighter than" and "heavier than", and to measure the mass of objects in informal units (for example, seeing how many Lego bricks are equal to the weight of a texta). At school we would traditionally use a pan balance for this. We hope the children enjoyed today's task of creating their own balance scales at home!
