The grade 4 teachers are delighted to share with you some of the poetry that our students have been writing with us during remote learning.
Emotive poem
Fuming – By Elliot 4B
The darkest of all colours, you look back and life is too short.
It feels like you are trapped in one sad dark time loop.
It smells of aging because everyone will once go to sleep and never wake up.
It feels like the most heartbreaking emotion stuck in your soul for a lifetime.
It tastes depressing because nothing goes how you want it in life.
It feels like there is no way to escape.
Colour poem
Red – by Jess S 4B
Red looks like a blood thirsty, savage, fire-breathing dragon.
Red sounds like the screeching of car tyres.
Red smells like scorching hot curry.
Red feels like searing hot fire burning your skin.
Red tastes like a packet of flaming hot Cheetos.
Red feels like irritation.

Rollercoaster – by Nick 4K
The wind howling in my ears. People shrieking and laughing. It feels like I’m going up and up but never coming down. All of a sudden, I see my life flash before my eyes as I tumble down the tracks.
Diamante poem
Axolotl – by Toby 4K
Axolotl
Slimy, cute
Swimming, eating, smiling
Curious little critters, lots of looking after
Feeding, caring, playing
Friendly, helpful

The Volcanic Eruption – by Oliver 4K
Boom, crash
It’s all happening in a flash
Should I run?
Should I stay?
Will the even let me stay?
Lava’s splashing everywhere
It hits me hard.
My family is gone
I’m all alone now so I am done.
I walk up and up to the very top
I get ready to jump.
I shall now turn into a clump.
Bye Earth
I have nothing to say
And now I will go away.

Volcano - by Angus 4L
Seeing, melting, erupting, it almost never ends.
It’s deadly and monstrous, but nevertheless amazing.
This molten monstrosity of magma is devastating.
Worse and worse it gets, spreading far and wide.
But at the end, nearly all of us survived
Diamante poem
Sun – by Aryahi 4L
Sunshine
beautiful, bright
laughing, running, playing
shining, lovely, setting quietly
sleeping, snoring, dreaming
silent delight

Limerick poem
Cold chicken sausage – by Aidan 4L
There once was a cold chicken sausage
And he slept on top of that old cottage.
He covered himself in ketchup,
to go to the dress up.
Oh that cold chicken sausage
