Bayside Stronger Together

Brighton Primary recognises the difficult times our community partners have faced during this pandemic.  Our school is committed to supporting local businesses.  If there is one thing that lockdown has taught our community, it is compassion for our fellow citizens.

There is a number of actions we can take to assist our local businesses to continue to trade during these tough times.

  • Continue to buy local. Along with many eateries offering delivery and pick up options, there are other retail stores and services also offering delivery and curbside pick up. Visit this Bayside Council link to view traders open and operating in Bayside.
  • Need a gift for someone special?  Why not purchase a gift card or arrange a credit at your favourite business e.g. restaurant, hair salon, day spa or bike shop.
  • If you enjoy scrolling social media, give a like, share or recommendation to those businesses you have enjoyed visiting in the past.

To help you determine stores that are operating through the lockdown restrictions.  Bayside City Council has developed an 'Open For Business' trade directory for residents.  It lists businesses that are open and trading, including information on how their business has changed to accommodate operations during lockdown restrictions.

Meet some of Brighton's traders here.

In addition, Brighton Primary would like to offer support to local traders by waiving our fees for advertising in the school newsletter.  During term four, each publication of our school newsletter will make space available for six businesses to place their advertisements showcasing their product and services to the BPS community.

If you are a local business or know of a local business who would benefit from advertising in our school newsletter this term free of charge, please email our Communications Manager, Karen Gittins karen.gittins@education.vic.gov.au to obtain advertising guidelines and specifications.
