Solar For Schools Initiative

Australian Parents for Climate Action Group

Recently, several BPS parents and students shared the Solar for Schools initiative with Principal Steve and asked that the school share information about this initiative with our community.

Australian Parents for Climate Action are calling on the Federal government to fund solar panels and batteries for every school and early childhood centre in Australia that doesn't yet have solar.

It's the perfect COVID-19 recovery economic stimulus project, creating clean local jobs Australia-wide, slashing school electricity costs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions to protect our planet and climate.  Solar and batteries significantly cut power bills for schools and early childhood centres by using and storing free energy from the sun.

Research by Beyond Zero Emission shows that installing solar panels and batteries in Australian schools and early childhood centres would:

  • Save $114,000 in annual energy bills per large school
  • Save $12,700 in small schools*

If you are interested in learning how you can support this initiative (and our school), visit the Australian Parents for Climate Action website for further information.
