BNWPS IsOlympics is 7 sleeps away!

IsOlympic Games training is in full flight via PE lessons with students going Higher, Stronger, Faster and being Creative with their skills. Bounce beats are ringing throughout the ‘burbs for The Great Bounce Relayclick here to be inspired! Make sure that your child has signed up for their 1 min via Seesaw or Google classroom and an alarm is set.

We are also encouraging all families to continue the active theme and join in for our Spring Step across the weekend of Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September. Spread the BNW spirit, mix up your 1 hour of exercise and possibly raise some funds for our wonderful school.

Further details of the WALKATHON come SCAVENGER HUNT including route maps will be available soon. In the meantime, we encourage you to share the GoFundMe page with friends and family – make a pledge to walk/run/ride/scoot/skip for your 1 hour.

Start to gather some sticks to decorate (no plastic please) in your House colour. We can’t stop to chat on our Spring Step, but a friendly stick wave is a start. These BNW stick symbols will then be placed at the end of your walk in a giant stick cubby!

Please click here for further details about the IsOlympics and how your family can be involved.

Share your IsOlympic photos from across the entire 3 days on the Kudoboard.

BNWPS Community Experts Week!

*Last week Mon -Thurs

Organisation for Community Expert Week is in full swing!! It is the last week of Term 3 Monday – Thursday. You might ask, what is this all about? Well we have had a wonderful response from our community members volunteering their expertise to design a lesson to contribute to an engaging week of student directed learning. We know there is strong evidence for allowing student voice & agency in their learning. Expert Week also gives families the opportunity to see skills, talents and hobbies beyond their own home and classroom. This model allows children to read through the different options and select appropriate workshops/videos (in collaboration with their family) that interest them. An Expert Overview will be provided next week so families know what will be explored in each topic.

These lessons will mainly be pre-recorded videos however there will be some live teleconference lessons running too. Keep your eyes out for the lessons designed by our very own students. Here is a draft snapshot of what is on offer so far by our Experts:

*Please note there will be further details of what will explored during these sessions in the Expert Overview.

To get organised for the week students will design and submit their own flexible timetable by using the Expert Overview (coming soon). Lessons will still be posted through the platforms of Seesaw & Google Classrooms as per usual. Teachers will have oversight of the different activities & teleconferences that children are engaging in. All pre-recorded videos can be undertaken at your own pace, the live teleconferences are the only lessons that are taught to a schedule. Live lessons are a voluntary experience for those who are interested.

Each day classroom teachers will touch base with their grades via an optional teleconference to talk about the day ahead & share their experiences with one another. There will be more details to come next week from team leaders and classroom teachers.

In the meantime if you have any questions please get in touch with one of us. It will be such a great celebration to bring the community into our homes and learn from one another.

Warm regards,

Flora, Jenny, Deb & Chris
