Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L)

Take a little time to talk with your child/ren about our two focus areas for the week. They will be happy to explain what these might look and sound like at school.

Weekly Classroom Focus

Use school resources with care and return to their correct place

Weekly Non-Classroom Focus

Listen to and follow staff instructions

R U OK? Day

Tomorrow St Joseph’s will participate in R U OK? Day. The wellbeing of students is always important but during the pandemic, students can be particularly vulnerable.  Students will be learning how to support their peers and talk about how they feel as an important life lesson.

We ask that your child/ren wear an accessory of something yellow (eg socks, hat, hair ties, t-shirt (with their Sports shorts).  Nothing crazy, we need to focus on the message of the day and not crazy outfits.

Ready, set...SJB Fun Sports Carnival is go!

All students will participate in our SJB Fun Sports Carnival on either the Tuesday or Wednesday of Week 10. Year 6 are working hard to prepare the sessions and make it a great day for all. (Yes, this is a change of date from what was previously communicated.)

Each Stage will join in the fun during a 2-hour session competing and earning points for their house.

Children may wear a t-shirt in their house colour with their school sports shorts and sports shoes. An additional accessory may also be worn, but not necessary, such as house colour socks, headband, ribbons, scrunchies, wig, tutu, zinc. Safety is important so please assist your child with this in mind.

In Week 10, there is no need for students to wear the sports uniform on days other than their allocated Fun Sports Carnival Day.

Fruit and Veg Month 2020

Our school will be participating in Fruit & Veg Month 2020. The theme for this year’s event is ‘Planet Fruit & Veg!

The message we are promoting is about the need to take good care of ourselves and the planet. Together, we want to continue to teach our students to eat more fruit and vegetables, to choose local and in-season produce and not to waste fresh food. This year’s Fruit & Veg Month is all about looking at fruit and vegetables through the lens of sustainability.

As part of Fruit & Veg Month students will be involved in some classroom activities and we will be running three school-based competitions to help raise awareness over the coming weeks with entries being due back at school in WEEK 10.

Competition 1 - Colouring Competition

Students are invited to participate in our 'Planet Fruit and Veg' colouring competition. Sheets are available from class teachers. Students may colour these using crayon, pencils or textas. Entries are due no earlier than Monday 21 September - Week 10.

Competition 2 - Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Board Game (Planet Fruit and Veg theme)

Students are invited to design their own board game based on a healthy lifestyle. Be creative! Entries are due no earlier than Monday 21 September - Week 10.

Competition 3 - Design and Make a Fruit or Vegetable character or display.

Students are invited to design and create their own 2D or 3D fruit and vegetable creation! This could be a collage, Planet Lego Fruit and Veg scene or character, fruit/veg hero, puppet or students can decide! We encourage them to Think Flexibly to create and make.

Reusable or recyclable materials would be prefered - consider sustainability when creating.

Design and Make Creations are to be returned no earlier than Monday 21 September - Week 10.

Competitions will be judged on Wednesday  23 September 2020 - Week 10
