SENIOR SCHOOL

What a term, and year, this is turning out to be! Congratulations to everyone: students, parents/carers and staff. It has been a roller coaster of a ride but hopefully we are nearing the end.

As we are fast approaching the end of Term 3, many Year 12 students will be completing their final assessments for Unit 4 before beginning preparations for final examinations in November. And Year 11 students will be following close behind. Year 10 students are not being forgotten as they continue to undertake CATs and participate in their online learning.

In the final two weeks of term Elevate Connect will be conducting examination preparation workshops for a number of Unit 3&4 studies with many of the Year 12 students signed up to participate.

2020 VCE External Examinations for Unit 3&4 Studies and GAT

As VCE Unit 3&4 examinations are approaching, and in particular the GAT, VCAA produces a publication tilted The VCE Exams Navigator 2020. This booklet contains general information about the examinations, VCAA rules and regulations relating to exams, approved materials, examination schedule, timelines and process for Derived Exam Score applications and other useful information.  The college will be provided with hard copies of this document for all students undertaking a Unit 3&4 study in 2020.  These will be available to students on our return to onsite learning. In the meantime the VCE Exams Navigator 2020 booklet can also be viewed on the VCAA website: https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/studentguides/ExamsNavigator/Pages/index.aspx

Students can find sample GAT questions and past GAT papers with answers on the VCAA website: https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/assessment/vce-assessment/general-achievement-test/pastGAT/Pages/index.aspx

Looking over this will assist students to be become familiar with the GAT format and the material that will be examined. There is however no specific preparation required for the GAT. Students are encouraged to complete the GAT to the very best of their ability to ensure that they make good use of the three hour time limit. Students are strongly recommended not to leave the GAT before the scheduled finishing time.
