Dear Families and Caregivers,

Welcome back!  How good is it to finally be back at school?  It has been pleasing to see the students re-engaging with their learning but most importantly, re-engaging with their friends and teachers.   Term 4, is always a busy term.

A few healthy reminders:

  • Please continue to ensure your child has a hat. If they do not have a hat they will be required to stay either indoors or under the shade. It is starting to warm up and as we know it's not necessarily about the heat, the UV light is what burns our children.
  • Routine: For some, it has been challenging getting back into a routine, but re-establishing those expectations at home is really important to ensuring that our children are successful at school. It's estimated that our children require 8-10 hours of sleep a night. Removal of devices and switching off the internet in the bedroom will help our children have adequate and sufficient sleep.
  • Healthy diet - Plenty of fruit throughout the day, sandwiches packed with all kinds of lettuce and salad will ensure that our children are remaining healthy. What I notice at recess and lunchtimes is that our students are very active. It's brilliant! Children need vitamins to ensure that they are reestablishing  their depleted energy levels.
  • Water - Ensure that your child has 1 or 2 bottles of water. It's estimated that our children need from 1.5 - 2 litres a day. This will eliminate any tension/stress headaches.

I cant wait to see and hear about the successes our students experience in Term 4.  We look forward to seeing you all shortly,

Partnerships for the the Future

The Years 6-8 Partnerships for the Future class have continued working on their garden bed boxes. The photos below show Matthew making the brackets for the boxes to provide stability while Ajaye and his group are connecting each of the corners and ensuring they are square. We are hoping to have these garden boxes completed and being utilised within the fortnight.

It's crazy to think what a few weeks away from school and good weather did to our wonderful garden that was established close to 12 weeks ago.  Our next goal is to look at how these foods can benefit our school's wider community. Some topics of discussion are:

  • Could the food tech room use our vegetables and fruits?  Could this generate some more income for our Partnerships Program?
  • Could we sell these items to our Kyabram Community?
  • How do we continue to ensure that our garden is maintained and no pesticides are eating our garden?

Plenty of brilliant ideas. Check out our School Garden!

This week in 5/6 ...

We have welcomed back all the 5/6 students this week. They have been very excited to see each other and get back into the routine of school. The teachers have been just as excited to be able to start all those fabulous things that you can't do so well in remote learning. This week in English, some of the 5/6 students began 'Book Club'. This has been a much anticipated activity and has finally begun after lots of practice. Students enjoyed reading their new books and beginning their roles. There is lots more to look forward to.
