Book Week Dress Up Day - Monday 19th October

Next Monday, 19th October, is an out of uniform day to celebrate Children's Book Week.  ALL students and staff are invited to come dressed as a book, movie or comic character or a favourite sports star.

Students can stroll the red carpet between the Church and school buildings when they arrive at school and have their picture taken in their costume.  As families will not be able to attend our parade this year, we will put together and share a movie for families to enjoy.

There is no cost involved.

Bishop Joe Grech Scholarship - Congratulations Hannah Hocking

On the 18th of September I was delighted to attend a Webex presentation to accept the Bishop Joe Grech Scholarship, awarded to me by the Catholic Education Office, Sandhurst. There were ten other students from across the Sandhurst Diocese that received this scholarship. The presentation was a wonderful opportunity to hear many amazing stories about what the young people have achieved so far in their life and their future goals. In the Webex, Mr Paul Desmond, Director of Catholic Education Sandhurst, asked each recipient some questions. I was asked what I aspire to do in the future and what my faith means to me. In the written application I completed earlier in the year I was required to explain my prior leadership and faith experiences.  The application also required a proposed program that I would like to lead or be a part of. The application asked me to explain why I chose this program and what are I am focused on getting out of it. In my application I proposed a program which focused on guiding youth into having a spiritual connection and also having a healthy wellbeing by spreading the word about faith. I chose this to focus on because we are always learning and exploring about faith so why don’t we explore it more when we are teenagers? I thought it would be a great opportunity for youth to be able to have people come in and hear them speak about their faith and how they overcame things when it got tough when they were at school and also to hear about their journey.

It was a long process but it was worth it! I am grateful that I was chosen this year to receive the Bishop Joe Grech Scholarship. It was an excellent opportunity to have and I would highly recommend students begin considering this opportunity in readiness for next year.
