School Pride and Sports Fund

We are excited to announce that the Minister for Education has approved funding of $150,000 to our school through the 2019–20 School Pride and Sports Fund.

This money has been provided to address the long standing issues around the narrow access road to the school from Fitzroy Street and the gridlock that occurs in the Parks Victoria car park most days.

The school has worked closely with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) to develop plans that will see the road widened and resurfaced, a proper footpath installed along the park side of the road, a 'kiss and go' drop-off zone introduced, new disabled parking spaces and the turn-out angle from the car park widened to allow for easier movement of traffic. Please see the plans below.

We are confident this will reduce congestion at peak times and make the start and end of the day safer and less stressful for students, parents and Principals.

This project has been over ten years in the making and I need to thank Paul Yates, Catherine Sharples and Jen McCrabb for their work over this time to bring these issues to the attention of the appropriate decision-makers and for developing a plan that has proved acceptable to all of the parties involved.

The project has already gone out to tender and we hope to see work commence upon relaxation of the current stage 4 restrictions.

School Closure

We were excited to get the news on Sunday night that our school could re-open following the recent confirmed case of COVID-19.

Whilst the case was not the news that anyone wanted to hear, it was wonderful to see how well supported we were by the Education Department, DHHS, our staff and our fantastic parent community. The deep cleaning and contact tracing processes worked smoothly to identify close contacts and to allow us to safely reopen so quickly for onsite supervision of permitted workers.

We wish the student and family involved a speedy recovery and send our support to those staff members and families now quarantining.  I am proud of our school’s inclusive culture and I encourage you to do what you can to make sure all our students and families continue to feel supported and included during this difficult time
