Grade 6 Passion Projects

Grade 6 students were given a chance to choose something that they were passionate about and that they would love to explore further during the first five weeks of remote learning.

Their passion project had to be made up of three elements:

  • Research
  • Create
  • Share

Here are some of the passions of our Grade 6 students.

 

Ruby 6GB – Mask Making

I choose to make face masks for the community. I wanted to do this because I really wanted to help the community during this time and I also wanted to learn how to use a sewing machine. I have made ten face masks so far and I am planning on making more and possible selling them.

 

Jasmine 6LR - Film making

Jasmine in 6LR decided to put on her director’s hat and wrote a script about some students in remote learning and the pranks of some certain students. She recruited actors, filmed and edited clips and produced an amazing short movie.

Zarah 6GB – Making a business

I wanted to share my artwork with the world and learn about how to create a business. If you have time, check out my website;

Lucien 6GB - Making a Flora and Fauna handbook.

I decided to make a handbook that has facts about plants and animals in my local area. I decided to do this because I wanted to walk around and be able to point out plants and animals and what is special about them.

Saoirse 6GB – Teaching my dog tricks

I wanted to spend even more time with my dog Mayo. I thought the best way to do so indoors was to get him over his fear of hula-hoops and train him some new tricks. At first he would run away and hide when I brought out the hula-hoop, but after 30mins he got more comfortable with it until he began to jump through it. I had to bribe him a lot with treats. He continues to impress me everyday as I teach him new tricks.

Michael 6GB – Learning to kick a footy with my left foot.

When I hurt my right foot, I couldn’t use that to practise my AFL kicking. So I decided to use my left foot instead as I wasn’t very good at kicking on that side and it was a good chance to get better at it.

 

Chris 6GB – Making Pasta

I wanted to learn how to make pasta from scratch and then to create an edible dish from the pasta that I had made.
