OPEN DAY
On Thursday, 4 May, more than 90 families visited the school for Open Day. They were escorted on tours of the primary and secondary school by members of the leadership team, parents and SRC representatives. The feedback was very positive about the programs running at Collingwood College, the staff and the facilities.
Thank you to the College staff and parent volunteers who assisted in ensuring our buildings and grounds were looking wonderful for our visitors and for those who greeted potential new families in the canteen, library and at the Thursday market before and after tours. Thanks also to the parents who assisted with catering.
Thank you to the SRC representatives who helped with ushering, serving food and drinks, assisting with tours and parking.
Thank you all who made visitors very welcome. These first impressions are most important and we look forward to large attendances at the coming Prep and Year 7 Information Nights (see below) and many new enrolments for 2018 in the coming weeks.
Below are some photos of school displays and participants on Open Day

PREP IN 2018
Dear families,
2018 planning for year Prep is well underway. We have been conducting many tours, dispersing information packs and visiting our local preschools and day care settings. Families appreciate the opportunity to see the school in action with students and staff engaged in their learning and parent involvement evident throughout.
You may have seen our advertisements for our Open Day as being Thursday, May 4th, however, I would like to also draw your attention to our 'Prep Information Evening' which is being held on Wednesday, May 17th 6:00pm. This information evening will cover the many aspects of a student’s first year and subsequent years of school with teachers and students speaking. If you have a child starting in Prep next year I encourage you to attend the information evening and return your enrolment form ASAP. Places in both Steiner and Reggio are filling fast!
Regards,
Sam Luck
Primary Principal
SCHOOL PHOTOS
Dear Families,
Although I have had many inquiries, I apologise for the delay in the processing of school photos. It has taken a little longer than expected with the way the Easter break has fallen. I am hoping to have all pictures here for the week beginning 15th May. I will keep you updated if this changes with the printers. Thank you to those families that have placed an order and again a sincere apology for the longer than usual wait time.
Secondary students will also receive their photo ID cards around the same time.

COLLINGWOOD COLLEGE ATHLETICS CARNIVAL 2017
On Tuesday, 2nd May we held our Annual Year 5 – Year 12 Athletics Carnival in glorious weather at Collingwood Harriers Athletics Club.
Students, teachers, student teachers and parent helpers attended the track to participate, support, officiate, rake, count, measure, time-keep, support, barbecue, commentate and cheer everyone on.
Students participated in up to five events throughout the day on the track and field. Every event was closely fought for the prize of wearing the ‘green ribbon’. There was also the ‘Fashions on the Field’ for the best dressed and lastly the event everyone came to see - The 100m Students v Teachers relay for “bragging rights” 2017.
Again this event was extremely hard fought. I witnessed banter, jostling on the track, pointing and under hand tactics (apparently) from both sides but I am very, very happy to say that in a photo finish the judges gave the win - to the TEACHERS!
Throughout the day I saw students, parents and teachers cheering, encouraging and socialising with BIG smiley faces. I must congratulate everyone on their effort and commitment to making the day such a great success and I look forward to next year’s event.
I will update and publish the Collingwood College Athletics Record book soon.
Thank you again.

MOTHERS DAY STALL
We will be running a Mothers Day stall on Thursday, 11 May
A couple of donations if possible from each family would be lovely.
Bring donations to the market on the day or put in labelled basket in Parents kitchen
Maybe the children at aftercare can bring some money and we will endeavour to bring the stall to them if they are unable to come out to the market.
All funds to the school!
Thank you
Kathy & Kylie

PERFORMING ARTS / YOGA
Reggio Year 1/2 students participated in a Yoga class facilitated by Jennifer Lowe (Yoga teacher), one of our Year 1/2 Collingwood College parents. The class was designed for children with lots of Yoga games, finishing with a class meditation. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and Jennifer is keen to give another Yoga class. Reiniera Hoctin Boes, also a Year 1/2 parent and Yoga teacher will be coming in and working with the students exploring Yoga too.
Thanking our talented parents for giving this opportunity to the students.

SECOND-HAND STRINGED INSTRUMENTS (REVISED LIST 3 MARCH!)
There have been some revisions to the musical instrument list. If you are wanting to buy an instrument for this year, or move on from an out grown one then have a look at this list. There is no point in buying a brand new one if you can get one second hand! And if you have one you want to sell, contact me at n_durston@yahoo.com.au and I will add it to the list.
