CSC School Council

Welcome to the 2018 school year from the School Council. We are a group of parents, staff, and community members who care very much about our young people and their experience at CSC.

The Council meets at least 8 times a year, with extra sub-committee meetings and events on top of this.  I am the current President, with three children at the school this year. This is the sixth year that my family has been at CSC, which has always been our school of choice in the whole region.

What’s happening in 2018

We are working on a review of the camps and excursions within the College with Outdoor Education teacher, Cole Waters. We are also exploring the purchase of solar panels, as well as entering into the Resource Smart Program with Sustainability Victoria. Please try and encourage children to practice ‘nude foods’.

We conduct a number of working bees throughout the year in which we treat weeds, and help keep the grounds in order. This year we might do some planting of native grasses, as well as help with the landscaping around the new music building. We will advertise the dates for each working bee as they come up.

The Profile and Communications Sub-group have developed a set of communication principles for the College, and are developing a new website which will act as a hub of information and resources for CSC families. Stay tuned for this.

Since completion of the new music and drama building, we are hoping the State Government will fund the final building within our Master Plan – the arts centre. We won’t find out about this until the state government’s budget is announced in May. Until then, we plan to lobby where we can, and publicise our school as much as possible. We will then have a whole new school with excellent facilities and nothing to stop us offering the absolute best for our children.

Support Groups

There are a number of Support Groups that Council oversee. Support groups work with a teacher to help them achieve above and beyond the curriculum – these are Music, Drama, Sport (just setting this up, very exciting), Steiner, and Parent Teacher Support Group. Please leave your details with the office staff if you would like to get involved in one of these support groups.

I encourage you to get involved with CSC wherever you can, with even a small amount of time, or just attending an event or two, and look forward to seeing you around.
