School Musical "Matilda" cancelled

It is with great sadness that we officially announce that our 2020 musical 'Matilda' is cancelled. The students that auditioned were all very strong and it would have been a tough call casting the show. I am truly sorry for all of the students who were so excited to be a part of the show.

PenPals to help out

While COVID-19 has forced many of us to restrict ourselves to home – where we can be safe - it has also provided us with the time to support our community in different ways. Here is one idea that students and family members might like to participate in.

Recently, for the safety of around 150 elderly and frail residents, Castlemaine Health made the difficult decision to ‘lock down’ its aged care facilities allowing access only to health and support staff to limit resident exposure to the Coronavirus. This means that residents are NOT receiving any visitors except for compassionate reasons. While staff are doing a fabulous job of engaging residents in activities and helping them to keep connected with their families through phone and skype calls, this may become difficult as staff become engaged in more urgent tasks in the coming months.

Which brings us to something WE can all do to help. Imagine how a letter or card could brighten up a resident’s day during the period they are not receiving visitors. It doesn’t have to be long or complicated, just bright and cheery. There will be no expectation of a reply, just the knowledge that it will make a difference to someone who needs to know that they have not been forgotten and that they are still a part of this community.

If anyone would like to be allocated a resident to correspond with over the next few months please let me know. You will definitely feel good if you do!

Kind regards

Teenage Radio Stars Call-out

Public radio is a great way to keep the community connected. Teenage Radio Stars is a morning program on 94.9 MainFM that airs at 7am on Monday mornings. Because we can't get into the studio at the moment to make the show, we're asking for your help. Record a message to the community, or just a shout-out to friends, (on your phone or computer) and include a song request. The radio stars will collect the messages and play them with your song in the next few weeks.

Email your recording and song request to Louise.Olsen@education.vic.gov.au
