Primary News

Hello Collingwood College,

It’s almost the end of another week in this fabulous school and can you believe that it’s the end of term 1?

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish Brigid Mitchell farewell as she takes a leave of absence to expand her family!  Klara Jakobsen, one of our many valuable ES staff members, who works in many of our classrooms is also finishing at Collingwood College.  I’d like to wish Klara all the best in the future and thank her for her contribution to the school.

Replacing Brigid is Simon Dix-Draper.  Simon has been appointed as the successful applicant for the Reggio 1/2 position.  You may have met Simon recently at Collingwood College as he has substituted a number of times.  Simon brings to us experience in Literacy and professional writing.  Simon also brings to Collingwood College a passion and enthusiasm for alternative education.

Lastly I would just like to wish you all a fantastic Easter.  Enjoy the break and I look forward to seeing you recharged on the 11th April.

Secondary News

Hello,

Although the term has been a short one, 8 weeks, it feels like we have packed so much into the term.

The students in the Secondary School have settled very well and they are engaged at all year levels. I have heard some lovely comments from teachers about our year 7s as they are get to know them and their learning styles.

We have really tried to cover lots of events this term for students, enriching the programs that we already offer. Highlights include the Swimming Carnival, SRC training day, Cultural Diversity week, class camps and the year 7 transition camp. I'd like to recognise the great behaviour displayed by our students at these events, thank our wonderful teaching and support staff and apologise if I have missed anyone's event!

Attendance at school is going well. Term 2 we usually see some students choosing to stay at home in the comfort of their beds. Please help us by encouraging regular school attendance - it really does matter.

Please remember that the start of term 2 will be the lead up to our Open Day. Open Day is Wednesday 27th April. Please promote the day with families of potential 2017 prep and year 7 students. We have a Working Bee on Saturday 16th April. This is a full on working bee in preparation for the day - all help is gladly received. There will be food and drinks supplied.

Have a wondeful Easter break. I am looking forward to the safe return of all students.
