Assemblies

Assemblies are held each Monday morning at 9am in the Auditorium.

Dedication Service and Family BBQ

Tuesday 21st February - 6pm

Each year we begin with a school Dedication Service and Family BBQ.   This year will be meeting on the evening of Tuesday 21st February from 6pm.  The whole school community, including staff and their families are strongly encouraged to attend as we commit the year to God.

Grade/Class Meetings

Wednesday 1st March - from 4-6pm

Parents are invited to grade and class meetings on Wednesday 1st March from 4-6pm.  The meetings are an opportunity to hear from your son or daughter’s class teacher about their programme for the year, class routines and expectations and ways that you can be involved in your child’s educational programme.

ICT Introduction and Training

Tuesday 7th March - 7-8pm

The College will be running training sessions for both students and parents in 2017.  The initial training session will be for the parents of all grade 5 students and parents of students new to the College in 2017.  This session will be held on Tuesday 7th March from 7-8pm.  Students will receive their new laptops at this session and parents and students will be given an introduction to the features of the laptop, as well as information that may assist parents with their child’s computer use.

Student Banking

School banking day is Thursday.

Late Arrivals

Please remind your children that those who arrive late must sign in at the office and get a late slip to give to their teacher.

Please ensure that your children arrive before 8.30am to prevent disruption at the start of the day.

After School Care 

Southern Christian College provides an After School Care service for 7-12 year olds.  

After school care for 3-6 years old is available through the Kingston Early Learning Centre.

Can you help with donations?

Grade 5 and Grade 6 Actions Groups will be working this term on crocheting squares for an organisation that makes them into blankets and sends them to Africa for people in need.  This action of service will coincide with their Unit of Inquiry.

The group would love any donations of crochet hooks and or wool to use.  The group will begin next Monday, so any donations before and after then would be greatly appreciated.

Drum Lessons

As a part of our itinerant specialist music tuition programme, Chris Lawson will again be teaching individual drumming lessons to interested students during 2017. Some awesome progress was made with drum students in 2016.

Chris represented Australia in an international drumming competition in Germany in 2012 and spent 2015 touring with the Planet Shakers. He will start lessons next week.

Lessons are $30 per 30 minute session and billed through the SCC office. Please indicate your interest to the office as soon as possible so Chris can be in touch and organise lesson times.
