Book & English Week 2021 - The Children’s Book Council Of Australia (CBCA)
The library and English department are busy preparing activities for Book & English Week from August 23 - 27. We will be celebrating with lots of fun activities including a cartoonist/illustrator talk to our Junior School from Mandy Ord. Find out more about Mandy’s fantastic work here. All of the books in the Older Readers shortlist for the Book of the Year award are available to borrow from the library.
Marvel Library Event
Thank you to our Library Monitors and Book Club for initiating and organising the Marvel event that was held at the end of Term 2. It was a great turn out and lots of fun. Congratulations to Prashva (Year 9) who won the quiz.

Congratulations to Charlee and Angel on being the Best Library Monitors for Term 2. We thank all our Library Monitors for all the hard work they do in making library displays, shelving, keeping the library tidy and running smoothly.
Glen Eira Council - My Brother Jack Awards
The Awards recognise the outstanding literary achievements of people who live, work or study in Glen Eira. Prizes are awarded for short stories and poetry in the categories of Primary; Junior Secondary; Senior Secondary; and Open. More information can be found here. The My Brother Jack Awards are a celebration of local writing talent and the stories that shape our community. We would love to see as many entries as possible from students at GEC. There are some fantastic prizes to be won! Students can talk to their English teacher or library staff if they’d like to know more.
Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge
It’s been great to see so many students embrace reading, the challenge and logging their books. Please contact library staff if you have any questions or issues. Well done to those students who have already completed the challenge. The challenge ends on 17th September.
