School Council Report

August 2021

It's hard to get away from the feeling of deja vu as I write this update on behalf of School Council, with the announcement on Monday of an extension to this current lockdown and the reintroduction of a curfew for Melbourne. This is a very difficult time for everyone in our College community, students, parents, grandparents, carers and teachers, as well as all our wonderful admin and support staff. Please look out for each other, check-in when possible and continue to encourage your son or daughter to get as much outside, off-screen time as they can, within the current Department of Health restrictions and guidelines.

School Council is continuing to meet via Teams and continuing its important work in many areas vital to the performance and success of our school, including curriculum, buildings and grounds and financial matters. It's really pleasing to see the speedy and impressive work on the extension to the school, which is really taking shape along Balcombe Road, ready for students to start using the new facilities in just a few short months from now (restrictions permitting). Thank you to all the fellow parents, teachers and students for their continued commitment in supporting our school throughout this stop-start period that we are all experiencing.

On behalf of School Council, my sincere thanks to all the team at Beaumaris Secondary for all the support and guidance being offered to the students online, as they navigate this very strange time. Please look after yourselves over this last month of term three and hopefully next term will look very different for everyone, once spring is upon us.

Kind Regards

Steve Pearce
