Science Week Competition/Activities

This week is National Science Week, a week where we celebrate science and technology across Australia. The theme for 2021 is 'Food: Different by Design.' National Science Week is an opportunity for us to talk science, see science and do science! Below are some different ways that you can help celebrate Science Week at home: 

1. Science Week Cooking Challenge

Using your knowledge of raising agents your challenge is to...

Option 1:Cook the highest/fluffiest pancake possible!
Option 2:Bake the highest/fluffiest loaf of bread possible!
Option 3:Cook the highest/fluffiest meringue possible!

To submit your entry, you must:

  1. Include a photo of your baked good and record the height (in cm)
  2. Identify what type of raising agent was used in your recipe
  3. Write 50-100 word description of the chemistry involved in your recipe (i.e. Explain how the raising agent works)

Prizes will be awarded for each category.

Submit your entry to Ms Hunter-Smith or Mr Robinson by Friday 20 August.

2. Education Perfect Science Championships 2021

Take part in the EP Science Championships! This is a free event where students can compete against students across Australia and New Zealand and show off their scientific knowledge. Simply login to Education Perfect to get started!
