Principal's Report

Jonathan Rowe

Dear Parents and Guardians

Welcome to Term 3. Our theme for this year is “True friends are always together in spirit”. This remains very relevant to the Monivae community in these changing times and although we are able to remain in contact with each other through various social media avenues, it is the time we are together face-to-face that is so important.

The presence of face masks and social distancing remain stark reminders of the time in which we live, but the resilience of the Monivae community members in their positivity at being back together has been heartwarming. I thank families for your enormous efforts throughout remote learning and for having students appropriately attired and supported to return to school. I congratulate our amazing students and staff on the spirit with which they have embraced the return to onsite learning.

We begin the process of subject selections for 2022 and several significant changes have been made. Students were surveyed and their feedback helped create our new elective offerings. Our staff have been incredibly creative with designing new electives, from all faculties. No matter what a student’s subject interest, there’s bound to be something new and exciting for them. The changes will promote greater pathway options supporting every student to achieve and become their very best. I invite you to visit our website, monivae.com, to explore the changes in more detail.

After a delayed start due to the recent lockdown, I am pleased to confirm the Tutor Learning Program (TLP) will commence Monday, August 2. The TLP welcomes all students from 7-12. No bookings are required, and students can access any venue on any of the days identified. They are not restricted to only one night or session. The TLP will support Monivae students with their homework and learning needs.

Students wishing to utilise the TLP at Monivae as well as the Boarding facilities, must pre book via email with the Head of Boarding, Ms. Merrin Shannon.

Email: mshannon@monivae.vic.edu.au

Boarding is free of charge for any student wishing to access this program. The College provides dinner, breakfast and lunch as well as accommodation for students on these nights. A list regarding linen requirements, toiletries etc will be sent to those who have booked accommodation in the boarding house.
