Principal Introduction

Dear EMC Community,

As we transition to Remote Learning, it will be a significant change for everybody and we must ensure that we work together to support each other in these difficult times.

Fundamental to the program we offer is the learning growth and wellbeing of our students and community. It is important that students continue learning and developing their skills and resilience; however, our students also need to feel connected to us – their teachers and their school. The following information outlines how we will strive to connect with all students.

As we all continue working remotely, students need to feel a sense of belonging. Our learning program will not only cater to their learning needs but also provide a structure to their days to support their learning and growth. Regular communication and a consistent approach to teaching and learning is going to be fundamental to our success during these unprecedented times.

To help support our community during Remote Learning, we will adjust session times on Compass so that they start and end on a more consistent time slot across the week.  Session times will also be shortened to help manage the amount of time students are at their computers and looking at screens.

The following session times will be reflected in Compass as of Monday morning:

’Extra Instruction’ is a time slot offered for staff or students to have another Zoom session either in small groups, classes, or individuals for extra support. Either the teacher or the student can request it. If a student requests it, they must email the teacher a request, and the teacher sets the day, and the teacher will send the Zoom link.

Access to the College can only be made through appointment.  If you require access, or have any questions regarding this information, please contact us through 9788 2600 or elisabeth.murdoch.co@education.vic.gov.au.

Wishing everyone a safe week ahead, I am confident that we will continue to be successful as a community, thank you for your support.

If you need support in regards to learning or wellbeing, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Home Group Teacher as your first point of contact, or Sub School team for additional support.

Warm regards,
