Year 5/6MG

The 4/5MG students have been enjoying reading, writing and then presenting poetry texts. We have focussed on the structure of ballads, free verse, autobiographical, Haiku and Simile poems and the use of figurative language to make the writing more entertaining. Here are some examples of our work for you to enjoy.

Disability Free Verse Poem  15/11/ 2020   BY: Adelia Vong

Why are people always treated differently because they have a disability?  Being disabled doesn’t mean you don’t have an ability.

Anyone can do and be whoever and whatever they want even with a disability.  Why is it that others have an advantage in life when people with a disability can miss out on a normal life?

Why can’t people just treat everybody the same way they treat people without a disability?  Having a disability doesn’t change who you are, and what you stand for.  Famous celebrities sometimes have a disability but people don’t pick on them, so why do they pick on the ones that are not known?   They need to be heard, I’m not being absurd, I just want things to change.

People with disabilities are drowning in the world waiting to be heard. Nobody wants to be treated differently, especially people with disabilities.  Just because they look differently or speak differently it doesn’t mean that you treat them differently.  A disability is not something that means you don’t have any ability, but it means you are special.  Special in a way that nobody might understand.

Others might not understand this word called disability but I do. Others do too, but they choose not to.  And this word called disability well, I just defined it for you.
