Dear Parents and Carers,

Remembrance Day

Yesterday we remembered with thanksgiving those who made the supreme sacrifice in time of war. We pray that the offering of their lives may not have been in vain. We continue to dedicate ourselves to the cause of justice, freedom and peace; and for the wisdom and strength to build a better world.

Parish News

I would like to advise our community that Fr Raju has been appointed as Parish Priest to both Christ Our Holy Redeemer and Sacred Heart Parishes. Father Raju has been in the role as Parish Administrator since the beginning of the year. We can now formally welcome him as our Parish Priest.

Book Week

Book Week will be held next week. Please refer to the Library News page for more information regarding this fun dress-up day.

Confirmation and Graduation

For many events that were planned for 2020 we have had to make changes, adaptations and even cancellations. As the school year comes to a close we continue to be bound by COVID restrictions. Confirmation and Year 6 Graduation will proceed this year however, like many events, will be presented differently. I would ask that Year 6 parents take note of an Operoo (formerly Care Monkey) that will be sent out later this afternoon.

Key enrolment dates for Year 5 students in 2021 starting Year 7 in 2023

The key enrolment dates for students in Year 5 in 2021 who will be starting Year 7 in 2023 have been agreed after consultation with the Executive Team of the Principals Association of Victorian Catholic Secondary Schools (PAVCSS).

The timeline of events and dates are as follows:

27 January 2021 - Applications will open for Year 5 students starting Year 7 in 2023.
20 August 2021 – Applications will close.
22 October 2021 – Offers will be posted to prospective Year 7 applicants.
12 November 2021 – Final date for parents/carers to accept offer made by school.

Please be advised of the necessity of making at least two applications to secondary schools.

Mobile Phones

Just a reminder to families that students who bring mobile phones to school must hand them in to the office on arrival and collect them at the end of the day. The phones will be kept in a safe place. We ask that phones be clearly labelled. We are well aware that only a small majority of students have/bring mobile phones to school and we understand the need for some children to use them. During the school day, however, any necessary contact home is made via the phone in the school office.

School review

Today was the last day of our school review. Meredith Nolte, our reviewer, appreciated the opportunity to meet with various groups and individuals, representing our staff, student and parent bodies. Meredith will now prepare her report which will be presented to the school leadership team in early December. This report will assist our school in setting school improvement plans for the next four years.

Icy Poles

Icy poles will be on sale tomorrow for $1.
