Chaplain's Corner

Hi Everyone!

Today is ‘TEACHER APPRECIATION DAY’!  Thank you to all our teaching staff who work tirelessly for each of their students. 2020 has been a huge year of adapting to change for school staff, endeavouring to provide an engaging education for the students in their care.

The great ‘THANK YOU’ video was appreciated so much by staff that it has been viewed over and over again!

Showing and expressing GRATITUDE is a very important value for all of us to learn and show.

It is great for our mental health as we think outside of ourselves and appreciated what we have and appreciate THOSE AROUND US.

Some of our older students were raising funds for the Warrandyte CFA this week, showing their gratefulness for the work of the wonderful volunteers who make themselves available to protect our community.  My son, Andrew, spent some years as a volunteer in Plenty CFA, so I too have an appreciation for our CFA volunteers,

There have been other examples of students showing their GRATEFULNESS, in the short time I have been at ACPS.  Here are a few:

Rosalie – had her hair cut off to donate it to kids going through treatment for cancer

Ruby – walked to raise funds for the work of those working in the area of cerebral palsy.

Olive – thank you for your beautiful card of appreciation which I now have on my office wall – it warmed my heart.

I’m sure there have been many acts of GRATITUDE – kindness/thankfulness – no matter how big or small.

TEACH YOUR CHILDREN TO BE GRATEFUL WITH THIS SIMPLE FAMILY ACTIVITY

Try a ‘Gratitude Walk’ in your neighbourhood, noting the nature around you, organisations that help us and others, friends you see along the way, family time, sport facilities, etc…..

This is a great place to begin.

As you walk, talk about why you are grateful for the things you see and discuss ways you can SHOW your GRATEFULNESS, eg, volunteering with Friends of Warrandyte Forest, join a land care group, fundraise for community organisations, help a friend with a special need, volunteer at sporting clubs.

GRATITUDE NOT ONLY INVOLVES THANKFULNESS, BUT ACTION TOO
