School Council President

Firstly, just a reminder to please always wear a mask when dropping off and picking up children or visiting the school for any other reason. We all need to do our absolute best to protect the ACPS and wider communities and ensure that our children can continue to enjoy uninterrupted in-person schooling.

Masks must be fitted face masks that cover the nose and mouth and cannot be bandanas, scarves or other loose material worn over the face.

Our students put together a video to say "Thank You" to all our teachers and staff for their hard work during term 3's remote learning. I've watched the video many times and it still brings a tear to my eye! We've changed the music for the video's public release - see if you can spot the other change we made.

Thank you to all the students who sent in their videos and thanks to Alison (Jesse's Mum 1/2B) for putting the video together.

Our oval is turning green! Or rather, green and white, both colours that an oval should be.

School Council met on Tuesday this week for our October meeting.

With the school's increasing use of photos and videos, as well as the Facebook page we started this year, ensuring we have parent/carer permission to use images and recordings of children is becoming more important than ever. With that end in mind, Council reviewed and discussed a new annual consent form we will use starting in 2021.

Deidre Prior presented the monthly finance reports for approval and the Council also approved the charges for the 2021 school year.

Nick Austin gave us an update on the oval refurbishment project and explained some of the additional work that has been done to improve drainage. This work has been undertaken to make sure we don't have an oval covered in water after heavy rain like we have had in the past.

Amanda Callaway advised that the school's anaphalaxis policy has been reviewed and updated and presented the ACPS Volunteers Policy and ACPS Child Safe Standard Code of Conduct, which were both approved by Council.

Volkan Ozturk gave us an update from the Marketing and Communications sub-committee.

Our online storytimes for next year's Foundation students have been  well received and we will be continuing them during term 4. It's been a challenge connecting with new families and children without being able to have them visit the school, but we are now able to host small groups and we will start these visits in the coming weeks.

Congratulations to the Richmond Tigers and Melbourne Storm and well done to both the AFL and NRL for both getting through their seasons relatively unscathed.

Enjoy the long weekend and what looks to be lovely weather.
