Digital Tech News
Welcome to Digital Technologies for Term 3, it is fantastic to have the Year 3s and 5s back onsite and in the Tech Lab for their learning. As part of creating a COVID safe environment, we are wiping down the computer keyboards and mouse before use and hand sanitising and washing hands when entering the room.
The Year 3s have began working on robotics by building and programming LEGO WeDo robots. These robots allow students to learn the language of block coding by following step-by-step instructions to build a robot using Lego and step-by-step instructions to develop a program linked to the hub, motor and sensors of the robot to allow it to move. Students can then change or modify the code and built robot to improve its functionality.
The Year 5s have begun exploring Scratch to learn the language of block coding. Here students are creating a game involving more than 3 sprites (or characters) including a controllable character, an enemy sprite (or sprites) and a collectable sprite. At the completion of the game, students will be able to customise their game, changing characters, backgrounds and other features of gameplay.
