We are all extremely excited to be back in the art room learning about different artists, styles and techniques. It is great to see everyone’s faces again and a warm welcome to few new faces that have joined Brookside in Term 4. After being 2 weeks back we are currently in the midst of our creative process, so accompanying pictures will be from our last 2 weeks of remote learning, but we are still keen to share what we have been doing in class.
Prep students have started investigating the art and techniques of French painter Georges Seurat and the element of colour in art. Students will be drawing butterflies and painting butterflies using Pointillism technique, which involves using dots to create a picture and letting our eyes do the mixing of the colours.
In Year 1 students have been learning about American artist Andy Warhol and the principles of pattern in art. Students are looking at the different patterns found in nature and using these patterns as inspiration to create artwork. They will use the colour schemes used in Pop art to colour in their patterns.
In Year 2, students are investigating the art and techniques of Australian artist Ken Done and the elements of colour and shape in art. Students will be looking at Ken Done’s artwork and try to identify the elements he uses to paint his artworks. They will use the Sydney Opera House as their inspiration for creating their own Ken Done style artwork.
Year 4 students have been learning about Italian artist, sculptor, philosopher, engineer, inventor and scientist Leonardo da Vince and the Mona Lisa. They will be using the Mona Lisa as inspiration for creating Mona Lisa 2020. What would Mona Lisa look like if Leonardo da Vince painted the Mona Lisa now? The ideas so far have been very interesting and I look forward to seeing the finished products.
