Way Out West Youth Photography Competition

If you know any students who are interested in photography but aren't sure how to get started, The Way Out West photography competition will be hosting a Question and Answer session (Q&A) and Youth Photography Workshops by photographer, Anu Kumar for young people aged 15-25. Students can sign up for Anu’s full seven-week workshop. These workshops are supported by Wyndham City Council and Arts Gen by cohealth and run over 7 weeks, commencing on Monday 9 May 2022 from 4:00pm - 5:30pm at Point Cook Library.

 

Anu will work with each workshop participant to explore how working with your friends, family and community as subject can not only produce beautiful photos but also expand your understanding of yourself as an artist. How to enter: Complete the entry form and upload your photo below for your chance to win 1 of the 6 prizes up for grabs. Maximum 1 entry per person.

 

Who can enter: Entrants must be aged between 12 and 25 and live, work, go to school or socialise in Wyndham.

 

Prizes: Entrants are encouraged to submit images using the prize categories as creative prompts:

  • Grand Prize ($500)
    Awarded to the best photograph in the competition based on content and artistic merit
  • Way Out West Prize ($100)
    Awarded to the image that best captures life in Wyndham
     Best Landscape ($100)
    Awarded to the image that best captures a landscape
  • Best Portrait ($100)
    Awarded to the image that best captures a portrait
  • Best Black and White Image ($100)
    Awarded to the image that uses black and white effects with the greatest skill/creativity
  • Best Use of Colour ($100)
    Awarded to the image that uses/captures colour with the greatest skill/creativity

Entries close at 4pm on Monday 30 May 2022. Exhibition opening and winner announcement will be held at 6.30pm on Thursday 14 July 2022 at Point Cook Library.
