Physical Education

Students enjoyed participating in AFL Victoria footy clinics in weeks one and two. They enthusiastically took park in games like Treasure Chest and Simon Says; and practised their handball and kicking skills.

STEAM

Students in year 1 and 2 have investigated Change.  Stretching lolly snakes to see which brand is the most elastic was loads of fun. Students made their predictions then used a ruler measure as they s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d the snakes as far as they could before they broke!

Donations for the STEAM room.  During term 2 students will have the opportunity to find creative solutions to engineering problems including designing and constructing.  We will use a wide variety of materials, if you have any of the following that you no longer need and are happy to donate, it would be much appreciated.

  • Small to medium empty cardboard boxes (food etc)
  • Wool
  • Magazines
  • Bubble wrap
  • Ribbon/string
  • Cardboard cylinders (inside paper towel or lunch wrap roll NOT toilet paper, thank you)
  • Building toys that are no longer used at home (similar to Lego or other construction toys)

Performing Arts

Students across the school enjoyed playing and making music using boomwhackers, rhythm sticks and xylophones.  The grades 4/5 and 5/6 played the theme from Star Wars, the grade 1s and 2s played the Banana Boat Song.

VISUAL ARTS

On return to school this term, the entire school created a visual display to honour our ANZACs. This included challenging paper skills with Junior classes, and detailed drawing with the Middle and Senior school. Look out for the display near the library when you visit for Open Night.

Year 3 and 4 studied architecture and cultural aspects of some our near neighbouring countries.
