From the Principal

Term One

We have successfully made it to the end of a very action-packed term, thankfully without any classes or year groups having to revert to online learning.  That said, there have been times that I felt we came very close to not having enough staff to cover classes. Over the term we have been strategic and flexible enough to hold some school events, focus on learning outcomes and maintain a healthy and safe environment. This has not occurred by chance but rather with clear communication and the support of our wonderful community. Could I thank staff, students and parents for their unwavering support throughout this term and wish you all a safe and restful term break.

P&F Colour Run

Initiated by the P&F the Whole School Colour Run was an opportunity to have fun and reflect upon the broad positive opportunities that we can experience. The theme for this week is gratitude, and students remembered how very lucky they were to live and go to school in such a wonderful place. They remembered those who are less fortunate than themselves and monies raised from the Colour Run will be donated to the Albany Youth Association and Ronald McDonald House.  Students thoroughly enjoyed the activity and special thanks are extended to the P&F, staff and Student Leaders who were involved in arranging and coordinating the event.

There is still time to donate via the link here: https://www.trybooking.com/au/donate/gsgcolourrun2022

Main Road Entry Drive

The upgrade to the main entrance to the School and bus area is well underway.  Thank you to all students, parents/carers and staff for your patience with the alternate entry and parking arrangements this week.  We look forward to the opening of the refurbished driveway in Term Two.

Easter Service

Our virtual Easter Service streamed into classrooms this week. Students retold the Easter story and reflected on the true meaning of Easter.

Easter is a reminder to us that there is hope after hardship. On Easter Sunday a path to hope was revealed. Jesus rose back to life. Jesus offers to help us in our times of trouble, he gives us purpose for our lives today, and a promise for the future. We believe we can all find a path to hope in any situation. This is worth celebrating.

Congratulations to the students who retold the story of Easter, created artwork and lead the prayers under the coordination and direction of our school Chaplain, Mrs Naomi Cooper.

Parents and students are able re-watch the Easter Service via our virtual assemblies tab in MyGSG here.
