Year 2 News

That’s a wrap!!!

We made it through a complete term of learning. It has been so nice to have all the students face to face in the classroom and what a busy term it has been. We are so proud of our students and all they’ve achieved.

We are all ready for a well-earned break and some time to enjoy lots of chocolate surprises left by the Easter Bunny.

Inside Out Dress Up and Movie Day

Last Monday 28 March, the students enjoyed a dress up and movie day to celebrate the end of our Unit of Inquiry, ‘How we Express Ourselves’.

This unit looked at how our emotions affect our communication skills. The students enjoyed learning about the character emotions, Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust. We also introduced them to Bong Bong who was an imaginary friend with all the emotions rolled into one.

The students came up with their own class definitions of each emotion and discussed strategies to manage their emotions and big feelings. Each Friday the students enjoyed learning how to draw each character with a guided drawing lesson through the Art Hub.

Our dress up and movie day was a big hit. It was fun seeing the students dress up as their favourite character or in the colour of one of the emotions. The students completed a craft activity where they stuck a photo of themselves on a cut-out hand and then cut the 5 emotions out and stuck them on the finger tips. The students then completed an Inside Out word search.

After recess we enjoyed watching the movie. The students loved lying on cushions and beanbags or sitting on our cinema seats at the back. The highlight for the students was munching on their special treats they bought from home.

The day finished with each student receiving a certificate congratulating them on learning to manage their emotions.

Sharing with our parents, grandparents and guardians

On Monday the Year 2 parents, grandparents and guardians were invited to the Year 2 mounds to celebrate the student’s beautiful work they had produced in their Inquiry books for our Inside Out unit.

It was lovely to see so many adults attending and celebrating the students learning. The adults were very impressed by the student’s work and particularly liked looking at the drawings the students had completed of each character. It was lovely to see the smiles on everyone’s faces as the children proudly showed off their Inquiry books.

We hope you enjoy our photos and look forward to welcoming you back to BNPS to celebrate our amazing work.

Pen Pal Catch Up

There was a buzz of excitement in the Year 2 rooms today as we welcomed our Year 4 pen pals. Our students have been eagerly waiting to meet their pen pals. We have loved writing and receiving our letters from our pen pals.

Today the students made an Easter basket together, read with one another, played outside and then ate lunch together. It was so heart-warming to seeing the two cohorts playing together and enjoying each other’s company.

It was also a nice opportunity for the staff to reconnect with each other. We are looking forward to meeting with our pen pals next term.

We hope you enjoy our photos and look forward to welcoming you back to BNPS to celebrate our amazing work.

Kind regards
