Principal's Message

Mr Forrest

End of Term 1

Despite the tricky situation of the past month we have been able to navigate our way towards the end of Term 1.   Thanks to the positive efforts from everyone, we have had only minor impacts to our program over the term.   Let's all hope this can continue into Term 2.   Pictured above are just some of the many exciting activities from our last week such as Man Cave, Girls Flourish Health & Wellbeing Day, fun in Year Foundation/1 with the interactive TV,  Allan clearing out the old furniture from the BER and new Chromebooks put to the test in Years 3-6 with the Australian wide trial of the new online NAPLAN testing day.

A reminder students who test COVID-19 Positive

Students who report a positive Covid-19 result must isolate for seven days and not attend school during that period. A positive test result needs to be reported to the school on (03)5494 3011 and the Department of Health on 1800 675 398 immediately. A negative test result is not required to return to school following completion of 7 days of isolation. However, if symptoms persist such as a sore throat, cough or runny nose please stay at home until well enough to return.  A Rapid Antigen Test is not required for a further 8 weeks.

If you are a close Contact of COVID-19 Positive person

Siblings who live in the same household are considered a close contact (that is, they have spent more than four hours with someone who has COVID-19 inside a house) must also isolate for seven days and not attend school during that period.

Students who are considered close contacts may return to school following their 7 days of isolation provided they have returned a negative RAT result. They must continue to conduct daily tests until all positive household contacts have completed their 7 days of isolation.     Household contacts i.e. parents are now not subjected to rolling quarantine periods.

RAT - Continues Term 2

As of yesterday  Rapid Antigen Testing  for students and staff twice weekly will continue for Term 2.  Students should complete the tests at home.

*Please note when you need further RAT tests to conduct extra testing please contact the school office and we will have extra kits sent out to you.  Phone (03) 5494 3011.

School Easter Fete – Last Day Term 1

All is in readiness for our annual School Easter Fete on Friday 8th of April, this Friday the last day of Term 1.     The Fete will begin at 10.30 am for the general public and conclude at 2 pm. The raffles and great duck race will be drawn at 1 p.m. We have invited three small rural schools along on the day so we are expecting a crowd of over 350 students and adults.  There will be a VCAL catered BBQ followed by activities from each year level. It will be a casual clothes day. We have also supplied five large activities/rides for students to participate in, free of charge.  Students can also use small change to participate in a large number of challenge competitions.  Over 20 outside stall holders have been invited to come along on the day including a coffee van.

Deb Ball Postponed

Just after a group of very dedicated parents had finished decorating the KLC and had it looking amazing we, unfortunately, had to postpone the Deb Ball.

It will be now be held on Friday 29th April.   If you cannot attend on this date your ticket can be refunded. For adults please note it is a double vaccinated event.

We also had to postpone the Year 11 camp until later in the year.

Out of Hours Before & After School Care to Begin

As you may be aware we are going to be able to offer Before and After School Care this year. We recently had our facility approved for use, we now have our staff in place.

It looks like we will be able to open our OHSC program at the beginning of Term 2.

We are aiming to commence this five morning and five afternoon service on Monday 2nd of May (Week 2, Term 2).    You will be able to sign up from Tuesday 26th of April.

Priority places will be offered to working parents of students with a disability.   Places for full-time or a regular day working parents requested will be prioritised first and then depending on requests casual spaces may become available.

Please remember this is a user pays service and when approved the Commonwealth Child Care subsidy/benefit can be applied for.
