Education Week in 2022

This year, Education Week runs from 22–28 May. The theme, ‘150 Years of Public Education’ commemorates the past, celebrates the present and imagines the future of education in Victoria. 

Education Week is an opportunity for our primary school to highlight our education journey.

The first school on this site opened  on June 15th 1954. It was called Koonung State School but was renamed Boroondara in 1956. 

Boroondara Park PS was formed in 1989 through the amalgamation of two well-established schools serving the North Balwyn and Bulleen areas.

Boroondara Park will be celebrating Education Week by holding an Information Night for Foundation 2023 parents on Monday May 23rd. Our Open Day is on Tuesday May 24th. We will be holding tours for prospective new families at 9.15am, 11.15am and 2.00pm.

Our Junior School Concert is also being held in Education Week on Wednesday  May 25th. 

It will be an exciting week to share our school with prospective new families and our own community. 

Mothers Day Dinner 

A special thank you to Laila and Caroline for their amazing work organising our Mother's Day Dinners for many years. This is the last year they have students at Boroondara Park, we know the dinner tomorrow night will be a special one. 

Laila and Caroline have made the event exciting and a real celebration for our mothers each year. 

Thank you to both of them for all they have contributed, including time and funds. Their generosity and focus on making this community event one to remember each year has been wonderful. 

Mother's Day Stall

Thank you to Pia and Nancy for their hard work in organising the Mother's Day stall. This is the last year they have students at Boroondara Park PS. 

Pia and Nancy have volunteered their time for many years to make sure our students had a gift for their mothers. They source different gifts each year and aim to support all students to make a purchase which will bring a smile to faces on Mother's Day. Pia and Nancy have both been wonderful volunteers and made this annual event a success each year. 

Thank you to the other volunteers who are assisting with the stall on Friday. 

We are still looking for volunteers to coordinate the stall in 2023. 

Classroom Expos 

Thank you to all of those who were able to attend our Classroom Expos at the end of Term 1. Thank you to our staff and students who prepared for sharing and having conversations with family members. It was exciting to see parents back in classrooms and students have the opportunity to share their learning. 

Welcome Back BBQ

Thank you to parents, staff and students who assisted with our Welcome Back BBQ in the last week of Term 1. The students reported the sports activities were great and we were very pleased to see so many families joining us. 

Uniform Shop

A reminder our uniform shop is now onsite again, it is open each Tuesday morning from 8.30-10.30am. You are still able to order online, but if you go to the retail shop in Ringwood they may not have stock there to sell to you, as it is all returned to BPPS.  

 Election Day BBQ

We are currently planning our Election Day BBQ. We would love your assistance, a message will be sent out via Sentral calling for volunteers for set up, cooking, selling and pack up on the day. 

Cross Country 

It was wonderful to see so many members of our community at the Cross Country in the last week of Term 1. A great event and our students had so much fun being all together and running the course. 

Good luck to all those in our District Cross Country team when they compete on May 13th at Macleay Park. 

Care Learn and Share 

We were really excited to start Care Learn and Share this week. We have additions to all of our groups and our focus was getting to know each other. 

Our Year 6 leaders will be running our sessions each fortnight, it will be great to have this BPPS institution back in full swing.
